  • Geotechnical

Geotechnical Engineering is a field of civil engineering associated with the engineering behaviors of the Earth’s geology and materials with specific regard to design and construction on or within the ground. Common areas are subsurface exploration, design and construction of foundations, and various earth structures.

    • Retaining Earth Structures

Retaining Earth Structures are used to hold back earth or fill to maintain a difference in the elevation of ground surfaces.

    • Foundation Design & Inspection

A foundation is the lowest supporting layer of a structure. The design is dependent on the applied loads as well as the bearing soils. Inspections can be done to insure the foundation was designed properly and has not been damaged or compromised.

    • Subsurface Exploration & Testing

Subsurface exploration and testing is typically conducted to investigate underlying geologic conditions existing below the ground surface. The investigation includes the collection and interpretation of samples from the shallow and deep subsurface by various techniques such as drilling or direct-push.

    • Dewatering Systems Design

Dewatering systems remove water from soils by separation processes such as centrifugation, filtration, etc.

    • Monitoring Services

At FGE, we offer our customers geotechnical engineering monitoring and inspection services. These testing/monitoring services help our clients verify results and ensure that acceptable progress and results are being obtained, as well as the safety and stability of the project. We typically perform these services for individuals, insurance companies, attorneys, consultants, and engineers.

    • Earth Structures

Earth structures are simply structures constructed of earth. Examples include slopes for transportation, stormwater runoff design, and shoring systems.

We typically perform these services for individuals, insurance companies, attorneys, consultants, and engineers.

    • Structural Sinkhole Investigation

A structural sinkhole investigation is a statutorily compliant investigation to determine if a building has been damaged per the current Florida Statutes (e.g. FS 627.706, with updates from SB408). Pending structural damage, this investigation will include or exclude sinkhole activity as a contributing factor to the structural damage.

  • Environmental

Environmental Engineering is a branch of engineering that involves the assessment and cleanup of environmental impacts to the air, soil, and groundwater. FGE offers a complete suite of soil and groundwater environmental engineering services.

    • Phase I Site Assessment

Phase I Environmental Site Assessments are investigations to identify and evaluate potential or existing environmental liabilities on a property.

    • Phase II Site Assessment

Phase II Environmental Site Assessments are investigations to determine if contamination exists and to what extent.

    • Soil & Groundwater Remediation

FGE provides consulting and construction services for the cleanup of petroleum, dry-cleaning, pesticide or other industrial contaminants in soil and groundwater. Our experienced professional engineers provide a thorough review of the site, geologic and hydro-geologic characteristics, and design and implement both traditional and innovative technologies to provide an effective and cost-efficient cleanup system.

    • Forensic Investigation

Forensic engineering involves the investigation of materials, products, structures or components that fail or do not operate or function as intended, causing personal injury or damage to property.

    • Soil & Groundwater Sampling

Sampling services are FGE personnel collecting in-field services for analysis.

    • Property Research

FGE can perform preliminary research of the environmental history of a subject property that includes research of online local and State databases, free of charge for our clients or potential clients that may be interested in purchasing a subject property.

    • Discharge Spill Reporting

Discharge/spill reporting includes several processes to be implemented and paperwork to be filed to prevent Warning Notices and/or fines with Local and/or State Regulatory Agencies.

    • Stormwater Design & Inspection

Stormwater is the water that originates during precipitation events. The water that is not infiltrated becomes surface run-off. Stormwater design includes site planning for optimum infiltration, as well as proper direction of surface run-off.
